There is so much to see and do in Canada's capital city, and, after all, tastes and interests do vary. We recommend that you drop by the Capital Infocentre for help in planning your itinerary and, while you're there, take in their excellent multi-media show, Footloose in the Capital.
Perched as a crown on a hill overlooking the Ottawa River, the architectural beauty of the Canadian Parliament Buildings is a sight to behold! Tour the grand chambers and hallowed halls of these beautiful, historically significant buildings and enjoy the many artifacts that detail the history of Parliament Hill. Several tours are available: Discover the Hill Outdoor Program and the In the Footsteps of Great Canadians are entertaining as well as educating. Want something different? Go down to the Rideau Canal, which winds its way through Ottawa as its centerpiece, and visit the Dows Lake Pavilion, a year-round recreational center. Here you can rent bicycles, in-line skates, paddle boats, canoes and kayaks and enjoy being alive. Oh, it's winter ... each winter season the Rideau Canal becomes the world's longest ice skating rink. |

Robinco Mon May 26, 2008 22:46 UTC Safety concerns in Vanier can be exaggerated. We lived there for many years and were aware of only a few crime incidents. Vanier has a francophone community feel to it. Beechwood (which divides Vanier and Rockcliffe) has many nice shops and restaurants. | alywang Thu Nov 1, 2007 03:22 UTC Hi,Rob! your pages about Ottawa are very insteresting:) | joits Thu Jun 8, 2006 23:47 UTC wow... great tips on your city! i will be passing through for a few hours on the way from Montreal to Toronto in July. i look forward to seeing some of the things you mentioned. | vtveen Tue Nov 1, 2005 16:36 UTC Thanks for the tip and pic about the Tulip Festival. another proff of the strong bond between Canada and the Netherlands. |
