Goslar is a city with over 1000 years of history. Nestled in the northern part of the Harz mountains, the neighbouring Rammelsburg mine and the medieval old town of Goslar have been on UNESCOs ( The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage list since 1992 as sites of outstanding cultural heritage.
There are 47 churches and chapels, I believe, in Goslar and this has led some to refer to the City as the Rome of the North.
There are towers and churches, colourful half-timbered houses and cobbled streets and a walk through the historic centre is like being transported back in time to the middle ages.
