Chiang Mai

Temple
Thailands oldest city and some people still refer to it as the capital.
A very nice place with a moat around the old city and remnents of the city wall still in place.
Too many girly bars for my liking but enough places to chill out in.
Fantastic Wat at the top of the mountain with great views over the city. Do not attempt the long windy journey with a hangover, one of my travel partners was quite ill by the time we reached the top.
Some great bars and most of the locals sport dreadlocks giving that carribean feel.

Wow lovely scenery, nice relaxed atmosphere and while i was there they were back burning at the side of the roads, this was to cut down on forest fires, and in the evening it was nice to watch lines of fire snaking through the mountains around the valley.
Many places to visit, adviseable to rent mopeds as most roads well maintained.
Go to the hot springs in the evening, emmerse yourself in the water as the sun goes down, it's too hot during the day, just like being in a hot bath, very refreshing. Visit the caves especially Fish Cave where there are hundreds of black carp writhing under the water and almost jump out when you feed them, the cave is very large and your guide will point out stalactites that look like animals and falic symbols.
Stayed in a very nice Bungalow caleed brook view, a bit pricey but well worth the extra for the views and the cleanest toilets in Thailand!
