Boston, Massachusetts -- "love that dirty water" - as the old song goes - is the birthplace of JFK and other former US Presidents John and Quincy Adams. Home to the famous t.v. show "Cheers" and the setting for famous movies "Good Will Hunting", "Amistad", "Field of Dreams" & more, Boston, I can guarrantee is a place you will LOVE to visit!
CALLING ALL SPORTS FANS!!
Boston's fans are among the most loyal and dedicated (o.k. some might call us crazy)! Our beloved teams are (in order of my favorite to least):
The Boston Celtics (basketball) http://www.nba.com/celtics/
The Boston Red Sox (baseball). http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/
The New England Patriots (football) http://www.patriots.com/ and...
The New England Revolution (soccer). http://www.revolutionsoccer.net/
The Boston Bruins (hockey) http://www.bostonbruins.com/
The home of the Red Sox, "Fenway Park" dates back to 1912 but on opening day it interestingly didn't make headlines because the sinking of the Titantic was conjointly in the headlines.
About 600,000 people live in Boston, and many of these residents are university students. Deemed "the hub of the universe", there are 8 universities just in the Boston metropolitan area alone: Boston College, Boston University, Brandeis University, Harvard, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Northeastern, Tufts and last but not least, my alma mater UMass Boston. The Charles River separates Boston from Cambridge. In the Spring, thanks to a generous gift from our Far East friends in Japan, the Charles is lined with beautiful Cherry Blossom trees. The Charles is a popular place for activities and events such as "The Head of the Charles", and the annual 4th of July celebration, etc.
