  • Great place to go if you want to be ripped off. Its a typical tourist spot. The only interesting thing l found in this part of Chicago was the Ferris Wheel and only because you have a great view of Lake Michigan. The restaurants are over priced as are the shops. However saying that it is a lovely place to stroll, people watch and have a beer and look at the luxury/boats ships which you can take a cruise on. At the moment January 2006 they have a fantastic stained glass exhibition which is free.

    Boat Cruises: Seadog Cruises

  • I only went on this because l got a free ticket. Its pure trash... the guide was a total disaster, all you do is sit on the boat whilst he gets excited and starts singing. I found him boring and actually thought of jumping overboard to get away from him and his silly
commentary. I checked the cost and its $22 for 30 minutes. Spend your money on a trip to the Field Museum instead.

At Least Do This: Don't go on board one of these boats... Go to the Ferris Wheel instead.

Chicago is an American original. The midwest is so different from either coast, a totally different attitude. Glad to see that you had a good trip. Great tips, and I laughed about your Seadog odyssey. He sounds like a real twit. :)

I did the Sears Tower thing when I was a student but no way now as I don't ride in lifts anymore. Enjoyed this Virtual trip to Chicago, it brought back many memories. Good page! Katherine
