I was constently warned about hailing taxi's on the steets of Prague. If you need a cab make sure you book one through your hotel and never ever hail one from the street or a restaurant or a pub. Friends of mine took one from the old town back to their hotel and the driver took them all over the place. When they questioned him and threatened to call the police he sped off like a bat out of hell...

Czech people love tips. In fact they will do anything not to give you back your change and they do expect a tip no matter what the service was like. One night l was in a pub/restaurant with friends having a few drinks and a bite to eat, when we paid the bill the waitress was supposed to give back the equivalent of €8 she actually kept the change and l had to chase after her. I also had to argue with her because she kept insisting l told her to keep the change. How she came to that conclusion l don't know she could only speak a few words of English. Just be careful when you go to a bar and they want you to run a tab, they claim they don't have any change. They also try to overcharge you for beer, just another thing to watch. Of course don't let that put you off, they just want your money.....
