"Wicklow - The Garden of Ireland" Wicklow by IrishFem

Wicklow Travel Guide: 79 reviews and 234 photos

Wicklow is know as the Garden of Ireland for its spectular scenery of Mountains, Glens, Valleys, Lakes and beautiful coastlines, of course not forgetting historical sites. Take a picnic with you and go on one of the many walks that Wicklow has to offer. The lakes are spectular and for those of you that get thirsty you can always drop into the local for a pint and a bit of craic. The pub is located beside the Youth Hostel.

St Kevin founded this monastery in the 6th centuary. This site became famous as a centre of learning thoughout Europe. Ireland was know as the land of Saints and Scholars. The settlement was destroyed in the late 13th century and the buildings that survive now date back to the 8th and 12th centuries. A catherdral, stone church and crosses survived.

Glendalough with its famous Round Tower. The English name comes from the Irish Gleann Da Locha which translates to the valley of the two lakes. The round tower is 34m high and 16m in circumference at the base.

The happiest of birthdays to you. It looks as though you enjoy restaurants as much as I do. Why doesn't it show as much on you as it does on me?

Wicklow seems natural place. It looks like a big botanical garden. I wolud like to be there one day because I am a forester
