4 Days Finally was at home with the Chans. They're in San Rafael just over the golden gate bridge near a marina--yes, beautiful.
Weather was unexpectedly nice--70ish and sunny.
Napa then Sonoma Valleys We did a wine tasting at Honig winery. They had a map of the area showing all the vineyards and it's jam packed, let me tell you. Right before you get to Napa there a town that apparently used to be a good stop and was a bit sleepy. Jeff turned the car around before even entering because it's now Disneyesque. Could be very nice if that's what you go for.
Honig was not a picturesque chateau, but they had a very nice dessrt wine that I'm taking home with me. Chick who did the tasting was from Queens/Italy, but was too bored with her job from the Chan's point of view. I gladly answered here query, pasta or pizza with a definitive pasta.
So we drive back via Sonoma which has a town center park/common surrounded by shops, restaurants and an old mission with barracks. Well, there was a grand opening happening for a wine shop/outlet for, hmmmm, what was that winery. Well, anyhoo, they had 5 tables set up going from white to red to dessert and great snacks from a local restaurant for each table. And it was mobbed with chatty people. Good scene.
