It was a short trip to Fes, but I suspect that it would take a lifetime to take in all that Fes has to offer.
My trip started when I flew in to Rabat, where I was met by a driver for the 2 1/2 hour drive to Fes. The terrain looked remarkably like parts of southern California, but the difference in the buildings, the lifestyle was clear. And, the highway was excellent, with little traffic. Not likely to find that in So. California!
I spent four days in the Fes medina - shopping, wandering, learning to make traditional Moroccan dishes and visiting the public hammam. Oh yes - and drinking mint tea. Lots of mint tea.
If you haven't been to Fes, go. Soon. A wonderful and welcoming place and people. |
