A Small country inside Italy.

by Maurizioago - last update: Mar 15, 2009

It is said that San Marino was founded by Marinus and several Christian refugees in the year 301 A. D. They fleed the religious persecution of Emperor Diocletianus. Marinus lived in Arbe; nowadays this is Rab Island in Croatia.

San Marino is a small country located inside Italy and bordering with Emilia Romagna and Marche regions. It is divided into nine municipalities known as "castelli". Each castello includes a main town and some smaller locatities known as "frazioni".

I passed the city many times by, but I never climbed up onto the Monte Titano. Once I will do it, sure. Thanks for the Brussels ratings. L.

Great little page Maurizio! Would love to visit San Marino. Do they have their own Euros? Do you know how long the bus ride from Rimini is?
