Chengdu is a city of old and new.. albeit more new than old. The city is confusing and it's very easy to get lost.... The maps provided for the city are basically useless, but that's no problem if what you like to do is walk around aimlessly and explore... It can often be difficult to place yourself.. but that kinda adds to the charm. Taxi's are cheap and buses are frequent if you can figure out which bus you need.

Chengdu has a major downtown that is alive in neon colour at night. It seems that even locals come down at night to see all the lit up signs. You can find the usual major brand stores, fast food and expensive coffees (which can be hard to find in china)

scattered throughout the city are temples, parks, and the odd old quarter to explore.
