Nightlife Spot: Placa Reial
The Glaciar is a hidden treasure in a sea of indistinguishable tourist bars located in the Placa Reial, in the near left corner coming from La Ramblas. Its clientele reflects the square's interesting mixture of people, races, languages and unusual characters. It doesn't just serve coffee and alcoholic drinks but also seeks to nourish the souls of its clients by organizing occasional exhibitions of photography and paintings along with hosting regular discussion groups, or tertulias, when people get together to debate serious issues. The bar has an attractive modernist-style interior and a popular outdoor terrace. It can become very busy. Lines often stretch over 50 people long waiting to be seated.
