  • It seems that one of the big tourist things to do in Morocco is to ride a camel. I had already done so years before in Egypt so I felt no urge to do it again. But a number of the folks on my tour bus opted for that unique experience.

A word of warning: camels are typically flea infested so don’t be surprised when you find fleas on your person after even a short excursion on a camel.

And by the way, riding camels is pretty uncomfortable at best. So if you aren't just taking a picture of you on a camel, opt for a very short camel ride to start with.

At Least Do This: Just do it for a picture rather than a real ride.
Alternative: Just take pictures of others sitting on the camel and save yourself for the discomfort of having its fleas leap onto you and your clothes.

Tangier sounds like a place for worldly wise travelers! Thanks for the photos-they were beautiful.

My adult daughter and I visited Tangier in 2000. We wandered the streets alone and had no problems. Tangier is NOT representative of the true Morocco (Marrakech and Fes are much better), but it is worth a day or so.

An astonishing well written page. I don't know what to think of Tangiers myself. Fascinating but sort of decadent.
