Mini van

Travel company's mini vans are the easiest way to travel around the Chiang Mai area. There are HUNDREDS of travel companies in Chiang Mai that will provide cheap and good minivan transportation all over the Chiang Mai province and more! So if you want to visit Sangkhaphaeng don't take a taxi, go for a mini van if available (if you have a group).

Overnight Train to/from Bangkok Train Review

The overnight train to/from Bangkok is a great and cheap way to get to Chiang Mai. The cost for a second-class bottom bed aircon is 661 Baht (US$17.00). This is the perfect class on the train, extremely comfortable and not as expensive as first class, and if you ask me its cleaner than first class. The train is extremely clean. The beds appear to not even exist at first but fold into comfortable beds. The mattresses on the trains are better than in most guesthouses! You get a blanket, pillow, sheets, and personal light. On the bottom bed you get the window, so I really recommend getting this bed, aircon or not. This is the best way to get/to Chiang Mai from Bangkok.

Pedicab - Chiang Mai

Pedicab

Pedicab Tuc Tuc & bikes Review

To see central Chiang Mai I recommend going on a pedicab tour for an hour or so. You will visit Chiang Mai's most important Wats and areas and it is just a different way to see the city. These tours range in price, but are rarely above 150 Baht.

Train Train Review

Chiang Mai can be reached by train from as far as Singapore (2500 Baht or so 2nd class aircon bottom). The train system in Thailand is extremely good and comfortable. If you have the time you can go through Malaysia and Thailand all the way to Chiang Mai! It's a great experience!
