Hoexter is a picturesque place indeed, the environment is marvellous: lakes, recreation areas, hills and forests.... yet, oh suprise: This is absolutely NOT the place to stay or spend money here. Folks are narrow-minded to a large extent and eventually hostile to newcomers. Restrictions for dogs all over, walk them on rope all over the year. You may experience the arrogance of the countryside. You were not born here, what do you want here? No, no, no. Better go see other places than this. This seems to be the home of the 110 per cent Germans, no kidding! Park your car more exact or you will be charged a fee, sweep the pavements on Saturdays, do not mow the garden after midday on Saturdays. Zealously neighbours are watching and educating you, complaining to the Public Order Office. The police is peeping all around as if they had nothing better to do. Goodness, what an annoying life style! As a native German I can say there is much more warmth, acceptance and friendliness to find in Germany elsewhere. And above of all, such a bad impression has never before approached me. In no place. Forgive me, folks of Hoexter, whom I met and considered you nice. But you are less than a few, yet still worth saying thanks for your kindness. But apart from you it is a shame and a real pity...
