*scccrreeetch. REE-WIIND* This is Long Island. Yup. Tons of wineries along the north fork of the eastern part Long Island where the wineries stagger along Routes 48 and 25. There are more than 50 vineyards in all and the area is known for its Merlot and Chardonnay. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, and Meritage style wines are also making headway in being well-known.
On this trip we went to 8 vineyards: Palmer, Macari, Castello di Borghese, Corey Creek, Lenz, Bedell, Pellegrini, and Paumanok. As a group we sampled over 29 wines and I ended up buying 4 bottles. |
