"Maui" a Maui Travel Page by virtualpatrick

Traditionally, I'm not into tropical vacations. I guess it's all those family vacations spent in Florida under the humidity and mosquitos. Living in Arizona for a couple of years did not help - if someone says "but it's dry heat..." one more time, well I otta...

All this changed when I visited Maui, Hawaii. The weather was consistently great, gentle wind coming in from the ocean, and most of all - great sunsets. Pure visual stimulation and eye candy.

This environment really made me explore one of my passions - digital photography. I slowly weaned myself from the camera's 'automatic' setting and experimented with under/over exposure control to make the colors of Maui 'pop-out' of the picture.

To end off this vacation I finally found a Hawaii story to tell.
I reserved a "shuttle" through the Sheraton concierge. He says, "3:15p Executive Shuttle picks-up people from the Kaanapali resort hotels and drops them off at the airport. It's cheaper than a taxi".

3:10p I'm waiting with 4 other people who are without any luggage. A mini-van stops and they proceeded to go in. I ask the driver if he was going to the airport since his sign indicated "Executive Taxi". He said something like "no, this is going a few miles down the road, what you're waiting for is a bigger {he then stretches his arms which I took to mean a bigger van/mini-bus".

3:15p A white stretch limo stops by the entrance. Ok, it's Thursday, looks like someone big is checking in - could it be J. Lo? I squint my eyes to try to see through the smoke mirrored window - can't see anything. The driver steps out, talks on his 2-way radio, and walks toward me. He says, "You Patrick?". I replied "Yeaaah?". With a relief he say "Hey brah, I'm your ride to the airport".

Dressed in my t-shirt, swim trunks, and tevas, I get in the car thinking "I'm a rock star!" It's been a good vacation indeed.
