Kazan is a very beautiful provincial town.It is situated on the Great Russian River Volga, in the central part of Russia.Long, long ago it was the capital of Kazan Khan state, which was the part of Golden Horde, but now it is a part of Russia.
It is a town with many interesting places to visit. And one of the peculiarities is that Kazan has many lakes, & one of them is never covered with ice(the temperature of water in it is always +4) . Kazan combines specific features both of Russian and Tatar( 1 of Turkic nationalities) cultures. It also has a developed net of entertainment establishments. I assure You, if you visit Kazan, You won't feel disappointed. You'll have a lot of fun.
In fact, Kazan evolved into two distinct parts : the upper town with the Kremlin, where the Russian gentry, merchants and craftsmen lived, and the lower town, where the Old Tatar and new Tatar settlements, Tatar tradesmen, merchants and even peasants livedThe visible border between the upper and lower towns, and in fact between the cultures of the East and West, lay along the Bulak Canal and the chain of Kazan likes: the Near, Middle ana Far Kaban. In the nineteenth century, Alexander Herzen wrote : "Kazan is somehow the main focus of the neighbouring provinces to the south and east: they receive thier education, customs and fashions from it. The significance of the Kazan is very great: it is place were two worlds meet. It has two origins, the West and the East, and you can see them at every cross-roads; here they lived together in amity as a result of continuous interaction, and began to create something quite original". Kazan is inseparably linked not only with Alexander Pushkin, Yevgeny Baratynsky, Lev Tolstoy, Nikolai Lobachevsky, Maxim Gorky and Fyodor Chaliapin, who was born in Kazan, but also with outstanding representatives of Tatare culture, such as Kayum Nasyri, Shigabetdin Mardzhani, Gabdulla Tukay, Fatikh Amirkhan and Gayaz Iskhaki. .
- Pros:Kazan represents a unique mixture of West & East
- Cons:no
- In a nutshell:A city with 1000 years history
