I visited Molokai in October 2000. We stayed 5 days on the Western coast and rented a car to explore the island.
Molokai is one of the least visited of the Hawaiian Islands, many of the inhabitants are of Hawaiian origin and the island offers very diverse scenery and some beautiful, deserted beaches.
You really don't feel like being in the US, rather on some forgotten outpost at the end of the world.
- Pros:Quiet, beautiful island, a world away from Waikiki
- Cons:There's really nothing going on
- In a nutshell:Perfect place to get away from it all

I plan on backpacking Molokai in a few weeks and am wondering if you have any advise on the area. I saw that you stayed at Papohaku Beach, anywhere else you would suggest?
Thank you for doing this page on Molokai. Looks like a great place to visit.
I didn't realize that the leper colony was still there! Wow! Molokai sure seems a world away from Honolulu!!
Very nice page! I've read about this island several times and I've always wanted to go there. Maybe the next time when (if!) I go back to HI.
i like the idea of camping and spending your saving some where else.
Thanks for sharing your shots of this island. True, it is very overlooked, but not surprising, given its history. Amazing to think of what a hell that piece of paradise used to be when the leper colony was in the hundreds.
Well another page of good tips & photos! Now I want to set sail! We love secluded beaches like Moomoni! Awe we just love beaches! :-)
Nice job! If those condos are "less expensive than average", I'd hate to see "most expensive".
Great page/pics. Makes me wish we'd gone to Molokai instead of Maui.
A place to get away from it all. What a difference from Oahu!
