I found an incredibly cheap flight to Rome, so i decided to spend 5 days before x-mas in this city, one of the few great cities of Europe i hadn't visited before.
I'm not going to build a comprehensive page on Rome, simply because i did the usual tourist stuff and i don't want to sound like a guide book. There are some pretty good Rome pages from insiders here on VT.

I will try to give, however, some general information about a visit to Rome, which might be useful, especially for budget travelers.

Piazza di Spagna

My overall impression of Rome was very positive.
Apart from all the famous historical sights such as the Colosseo or Saint Peters, it's simply a fun city, often dirty and chaotic, and full of life. Even in winter many cafés and restaurants have tables outside, and Rome is a fantastic place for people watching.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Chaotic, noisy, full of history, great food
Cons:Chaotic, noisy, horrible traffic, many tourist traps
In a nutshell:Eat, drink, smoke, stroll, shop!! When in Rome do as the Romans do!
