More than one night in Bangkok

by AndreSTGT - last update: Jul 20, 2008

If I had to put together a list of my favorite cities in the world Bangkok would definitely make it into the Top 5.
Few cities offer so many attractions, so much excitement and diversity.
Bangkok is a city in constant flux. When i first visited in 1995, it was still a very South-East Asian city, dirty, chaotic with potholed sidewalks and the Chao Phraya river smelt awful. Nowadays Bangkok is cleaner than ever, the sidewalks are repaired, the smell is gone and the shopping malls are straight out of a science fiction movie. The chaotic traffic has become less of a problem since the introduction of the skytrain, the slums along the railway tracks are gone. Bangkok's youth is more westernised than Westerners.
But one thing will never change : the fascination that emanates from Bangkok, the eternal splendor of its temples, the youthful energy of its inhabitants. And as long as the street vendors still offer delicious food and the smell of incense is in the air of Chinatown, Bangkok offers the best of both worlds.

I stayed at the Mango Lagoon hoel for 5 days. Exellent value 700bht for twin room with air con and shower. Clean rooms and a great bar in courtyard in front of hotel. Play great rock tunes all day. Will definately go again.
