Despite heavy development Ko Phi Phi remains one of the most beautiful islands in the world. I've been there three times, once in high season 1997, and in low season 2003 and 2004, not much has changed since my first visit, but i definitely recommend to visit the island in low season (June-Nov), otherwise the beach will be packed and finding a good value room is impossible.
According to your taste you can stay near the main village with crowds of travelers and excellent nightlife, or at a more secluded beach.
There are plenty of opportunities to spend your time on and around the island, but the one thing that's a real must is walking uphill from the village to the view point. Yes, this is the famous place with the magnificent view over the two bays which is often used in travel magazines.
This page is pretty much obsolete since the 26th of December 2004. I'm sure the island will recover and make a big comeback on the tourist map soon. And i hope they won't make the same mistakes twice

I guess you can't blame the Maya Bay people for charging...the people don't stop coming!! I've yet to make to Krabi! One of these years I'll check out this paradise! Beautiful page!!
