As our flight was seriously delayed, we arrived in the middle of the night, totally exhausted. And...the hotel was overbooked. Not enough beds. The hotel proposed a "roll away" bed. No problem, such a futility wouldn't ruin our stay. Only... we waited and waited and they forgot to roll in the bed. We had to call 2 times before there was an extra bed... without sheets nor blankets. "Someone else would bring it"... still waiting! Good that our "boy-and girl scout background" learned us to alwas preview a sleeping bag for in case ;-)
Unique Qualities: No bad word about the room itself. It might be a 3 stars hotel in Las Vegas, in Europe this kind of rooms would be 4 or even 5 stars! For thrill seekers of all ages: visit the adventure dome, with more than 15 rides. Great fun! A disadvantage of this hotel is it's location at the end of the Strip, out of "where it all happens".

Great hotel, great service! Despite the huge crowd and all the hustle and bustle, checking in was easy. What a difference with Circus Circus, our previous hotel, where we spent only 1 night! The center of the pyramid is the heart of the hotel: shops, a food court, a museum with "fake" Egyptian mummies and tombes, an Imax theatre and of course...the casino! All the Egyptian themed rooms are on the side, just under the inclined walls of the pyramid and the view out of the window is spectacular! The photo shows how huge this pyramid is. The white rafters are in fact the indoor balconies of the different floors with the access to the rooms.

We checked in late at night and we were lucky. We got an upgrade to the junior suite. Kind of apartment the Osbournes have when going to Vegas (at least that's what I thought when stepping through that door). OMG what a large view! And what a suite! It was not really my style: a lot of black fussy extravagance and very few light, but this is Vegas! The room was impressive. And ... we enjoyed it! I guess we had the Superman suite, while there were lots of show cases with Superman window dummies and accessories. Bar, kitchenette, 2 bathrooms, a huge tv screen in the living room. One has to sit at least 10 meters from the screen to have a clear view! Another tv in the bedroom and a bath with sliding door opening towards the living room. He he! Taking a bath with view over the Strip... weird! Too bad we had only one night to spend. The other photos show the bath opening onto the living room (Superman's pyama at the left), a view of the living room and my husband with another Superman window dummy.
Unique Qualities: Planet Hollywood is a wonderful hotel. Compared to the other hotels where we stayed in Vegas, this is the best. Good restaurants and fantastic buffet (Spice Market). Nice shopping centre too. The central location on the strip is a "plus".

BillNJ Sun Feb 8, 2009 18:21 UTC "Nothing is real" ... "nuts" ... "madness" ... "overkill". Yes, you have summed up Las Vegas! :) I agree, though, that is one of the top travel destinations in the US. I especially like the free drinks and inexpensive buffets in the casinos. | Nemorino Thu Sep 4, 2008 07:22 UTC Happy Birthday Martine! Have a great day! | filipdebont Sat Nov 11, 2006 14:48 UTC Viva Las Vegas - ik kijk er al naar uit om Vegas nog eens te bezoeken volgende zomer (vorig bezoek dateert van 10 j geleden). | JimmyG57 Tue Aug 8, 2006 14:57 UTC The ride is very short but fast. it lasts about 45 seconds but in that short amount of time you go thru a tunnel, some loops and up a tower, only to come down backwards and do it all over again. In the summer heat it can be draining on the body! |
