Key West Travel Guide: 2,025 reviews and 3,979 photos
I won’t bore you writing about the city’s history, one can find everything on Wikipedia.
But I am particularly fond of the word “Conch” (pronounce “Konk”), the name of the inhabitants of Key West.
It’s easy to recognize them between the large number of tourists. At least, some male Conchs are typical. They are mostly dressed in shorts and Hawaii shirt. Lots of men are Hemingway look-alikes and wear a straw hat with a black ribbon.
The Conch look is relax, easy and somewhat shabby. But their houses and tropical gardens are jewels.
After a short visit in 2002, we were so enchanted by the island with its charming houses, that we decided to return to Key West some day.
We finally saw our dream come true in 2010 and even returned in 2012.
The lively atmosphere in Duval Street, the waterfront, the museums, the beach, the tours, the restaurants, the shops… our program was varied enough to stay a week without any off-day.
And yet there were many other activities we didn’t took part in, like sunbathing, snorkelling, fishing, parasailing, kayaking and much more.
We prefer history and culture over sports, I am afraid.

In Key West, there is enough to suite all tastes.
- Pros:No car required to see everything.
- Cons:For those who come by car: parking space is an issue
- In a nutshell:In my opinion: Must see n°1 in Florida

Ahh yes Key West nice and relax, good looking page indeed !
Interesting new tips on Key West! I never knew Hemingway had a six-toed cat with so many descendents. Good that the hotel has bicycles for rent. (Do any Americans rent them, or only visiting Europeans?)
Sorry you missed out on Blue Heaven. Fortunately we have many more good restaurants on the Island. Nice KW page.
