Dinant, a small but famous town in Wallonia, the South and French speaking part of Belgium is not only famous as the home town of Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone. It’s also a cosy little town with lots of charming restaurants and terraces along the river. The citadel, overlooking the town and the river Meuse draws lots of tourists.
However, after my last visit I had the idea that Dinant is becoming past glory. The streets are not very clean. The whole town needs a lick of paint and there are too much pigeons and pigeon remains (!).
Still, the region of Dinant is marvellous. Lots of Middle Aged castles, ruins and interesting things to do and to see.
But… you need a car to get around. |
