Lots of different possibilities: hire a guide for one or more days, or have a basic training first.
"Getting acclimatised before starting" is also here a golden rule.

Equipment: All info at the "Maison de la Montagne", just next to the Tourism Office.

Address: Place de l'Eglise

Chamonix rafting

River rafting in the Arve River Rafting / Body Surfing Review

Our kids enjoyed very much their rafting afternoon in the Arve. It was an excursion of about 2 hours down the valley and traversing the wild Arve river in town.
First a short rafting course, followed by 45 minutes of action in the river, a hot shower and a transport back to Chamonix.

Important: provide yourself with twice the amount of the price if you also like the dvd with 25 action photos!

Equipment: Equipment provided.

Only need to bring a swim short and a towel.

Directions: reservations: Maison de la Montagne, Place de l'Eglise. (next to the old church in the center of the town) You'll get a map to find the location of the rafting base, which can easily be reached on foot from the center.

Chamonix - Chamonix-Mont-Blanc

Chamonix

Paragliding Paragliding Review

If you like extreme thrills and airtime, you gotta try this: a paragliding duo jump.

Most of the parachutes take off at Planpraz (see my Brévent -tip). The lightweights (mostly kids) early in the morning and so on, ending with the the heavyweights (I guess there must be a max weight) around noon.

The landing is on the Savoy field, a beginners ski slope at 5 minutes walking distance from the centre of the town.

The price is about 90 euros/jump.
