Restaurant Name: La Calèche
If you happen to have a rainy day while staying in Chamonix, come to restaurant "La Calèche" and spent the afternoon eating and wine tasting. The place could be called a theme restaurant, but it's not, it's real! Pots and pans are hanging at the wooden ceiling. The furniture and the walls are made in pine-wood. The whole restaurant breaths an Alpine atmosphere. The waiters wear traditional costumes and the food is de-li-ci-ous! On Tuesday night there is live music and danse. great!
Favorite Dish: We had the local dish: Fondue Savoyarde. The dish is accompanied by local "charcuteries", such as sausages and several ham varieties. A white Fendant wine is an excellent match for this dish.

Restaurant Name: Le national
This restaurant, located at the opposite of restaurant la Calèche (see previous tip) has a cosy terrace with spacious parasols. We prefer this one for a dinner at noon. We have been here twice in 2 years. And twice we regretted. Not because the food wasn't ok, no on the contrary! But it took us 2 weeks to loose the weight we gained after a delicious Fondue Savoyarde! To be honest... for those Americans who feel cheated when eating in Europe because of the small portions (sometimes with good reason)... order a Fondue Savoyarde and you will have to crawl back to your hotel on your knees!
Favorite Dish: Just a tip: don't ask for sangria as aperitive. They haven't a clue about it

This looks like a really nice place. No wonder you have been there six times!
