Arms of Nijlen
Nijlen his crest shows 4 lions, giving by duke Jan I of Brabant in 1286 AD.

Typical flemish those lions, almost every town has a crest with lions.
Funny thing is that originally they symbolised the cheetahs of Byzantium... imported by the crusaders who came home.
Drawing of a diamond

Diamond

The town of Nijlen is famous for their craftmenship in diamond.
It's a pity that this craft is dying...
spruce forest

Sparrijders (Spruce riders)

Their nickname!
Not a nice one actually... back in the old days there was a gang who robbed travellers. The robbers hung their victims upside down in a tree, so that their money fell out of their pockets.
Nobody could accuse the robbers afterwards because they only picked up money from the ground....

Never heard of Vredehof and it really looks like the small version of Keukenhof. Thanks for the tip, I will visit this place some day.
