  • Favorite Thing: Noale is a very nice small city out of Venice. Not so crowed and easy to reach by car or train, its an ideal quiet place for stay and going around but not so far from the touristic places.

  • Favorite Thing: The Rialto stone bridge, 48 m long and 22 m wide, offers one of the most beautiful views of the Grand Canal, Venice’s main water thoroughfare, with an uninterrupted series of palaces and churches facing the canal along its entire 4-km length.

  • Favorite Thing: Piazza San Marco is surrounded by palaces connected by continuous porticoes, the Procuratie. Its dominating buildings are the exceptional Basilica di S. Marco (started in the IX century), recalling the form of Byzantine churches with façade mosaics and, standing on its own a little way off, the tall bell tower (96.8 m) from the 12th century. Towards the lagoon, there is the Palazzo Ducale (from the XIV century), the utmost expression of Venetian Gothic architecture.

  • Favorite Thing: Built at the end of the fourteenth century, this building is instantly eye-catching because of the large front entrance, which opens into a small courtyard. The construction is a mix of styles from the fourteenth to the late-fifteenth century. Renovated in the seventeenth century, the hall of San Giovanni was built at that time, as was the monumental, splendid staircase and the Oratory of the Cross, which is next door. Nowadays, this is mostly used as a concert hall and can only be visited with a guide on Sundays and Mondays.

  • Favorite Thing: It's the tallest belltower in Venice. From the top you can see the whole lagoon.
Even though the tower was erected at the beginning of the 20th century, it is an exact replica of the 15th-century bell tower. In 1609, Galileo Galilei exhibited his telescope here, and during the carnival, the bell tower used to serve as a stage for the tight rope-walkers who entertained the doge with their acrobatics.

  • Favorite Thing: Started in the 9th century, this church's architecture shows an eastern and Byzantine influence: note the golden altarpiece and the 13th- and 14th-century mosaics that illustrate the cycles of the Bible. The magnificent domes date from the 12th century. The Basilica houses the Marciano Museum, which contains the original bronze horses, copies of which are now on the terrace. The church is open for mass and touring visitors to appreciate daily.

  • Favorite Thing: The Grand Canal is a street of water which allows local traders and tourists to journey through Venice's rich history and many of it's most celebrated monuments. One can travel on gondola or larger vessels and glimpse, from a unique vantage, such sites as the Natural History Museum and the Palazzo Pesaro, while also traveling under some of Venice's most famous and recognizable bridges like the Rialto Bridge and the Ponte dell-Accademia.

  • Favorite Thing: The palace begun about 814, destroyed four times by fire, and each time rebuilt on a more magnificent scale. It is a remarkable building in Italian Gothic with some early Renaissance elements. The northern side of the piazza is occupied by the Procuratie Vecchie (1496) and the southern side by the Procuratie Nuove (1584), both built in Italian Renaissance style. During the time of the Venetian republic these buildings were the residences of the nine procurators, or magistrates, from among whom the doge, or chief magistrate, was usually selected.
