"Baxter State Park" Baxter State Park by Gilfeather

Baxter State Park Travel Guide: 28 reviews and 43 photos

Welcome to my backyard...

Baxter State Park was a place I guess I took for granted growing up. I literally didn't see the forest for the trees. The surrounding area is where I lived and I never gave it much thought . I simply lived there. You know?
I have since been woken.

This picture was shot while I was on my hike to Daicey Pond.
The only person I ran into along the way was a wildlife photographer who was out looking for moose in the early morning hours.
I sure saw enough sign.
But I guess that morning, they were busy elsewhere, working on their Bullwinkle impersonations.

Daicey is a nice 1/2 day hike from the Katahdin Stream Campground. I took this shot off the porch of the cabin that houses the "Library".

There is a Park Ranger here who is friendly and will help campers out with any questions and such.

Secluded spot and very nice.
