Ellmau is a nice size small town/village on the edge of the "Grossraum" or "SkiWelt" ski area, also known as Wilder Kaiser.

The skiing was very good despite poor and sometimes zero visibility. there is a lively apres ski scene with several good bars and restaurants.

And even more wow in the summer!

Having enjoyed a skiing holiday in February it was great to be able to revisit Ellmau with my wife in June and see the area without its white cloak.

I have managed to take a couple of photos from very similar places to the winter pics and I think they make an interesting comparison.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Compact village, good lift system and ski area
Cons:Main lifts a little away from centre
In a nutshell:If there is good snow a perfect resort and great in summer too!

Just returned after a fantastic walking week in Ellmau, we stayed in a Pension run by an lovely Irish family called the Tirolerhoffer. The food was wonderful in all the places we eat in
