My love for Vanuatu

by sydsider - last update: Jan 15, 2003

Le Meridien views
I went for a week and absolutely loved it, cant wait to return. I wasnt there for very long, but i picked up on quite a bit and have been investigating the place since i returned, so if anyone has any questions, i'll try and help. its no hassle, cause i love talking about this country, cant get enough! one thing i can tell you is that a week is not enough.
its a beautiful country, undiscovered by most, and the people are its true treasures. if you are going, take time to make some friends, its not hard, because these people love smiling! you feel extremely welcome, and not just because you are a tourist.
I definietly recommend Le Meridien Resort, you'll fall in love with the people there and the relaxed atmosphere is so good for the soul.
the lovely airport

Arrival

This is the airport that we arrived to on Monday mid afternoon, and yes it was raining! ok, that happens all the time in the tropics, but silly me hadnt really checked the weather report before I planned the trip, so I wasnt expecting rain. Though November was a good time to go in, cause it wasnt too hot and its wasnt too cold or wet.
I love this airport, so small and so not complicated, like most airports. our first introduction to Vanuatu.
maleria drink

Ekasup Tour

This is what the locals drink so that they dont get maleria. Damn, the rest of us had to take tablets. We tried it, it didnt taste half bad, like a weak green tea.
Love this idea of coconut cups though, I want one!!!

Pros:"the amazing relaxed atmosphere, the friendly people, the amazing culture, the beautiful views and crystal clear waters, shall i continue?"
Cons:"Although Vanuatu is reasonably priced, the resorts can be expensive food wise. beware of the maleria factor and the water is safe to drink but its best to have bottled. keep the air con off, cause the diff between hot and cold makes you sick."
In A Nutshell:"An undiscovered paradise, the perfect mix of party and relaxation"
