Favorite Thing: This ancient Roman structure is a true architectural feat despite the remaining hole (see other tip). It is a tribute to the genius of the architects of the time, and has inspired many constructions, even during the Renaissance (see tip in Naples). It is one of the highlights of central Rome to visit when going from Piazza Navona to the Fontana di Trevi, for example.

Favorite Thing: This now quiet stone road was once a busy and vital link to the Roman cities of the south-east in Brindisi. It was known as the regian viarum (queen of roads), in particular because it was so straight. Beyond its historical significance, it makes for a very pleasant walk, as it is away from central Rome, towards the east. This is especially the case on sundays when it is a car-free zone on a long section.

Favorite Thing: This church is especially worth the visit for the 3 Caravaggio paintings it harbours in its Contarelli Chapel. They are super in situ examples of the talent of this revolutionary Italian artist whose fame brought him much acknowledgement, but whose lifestyle made him persecuted. The church in itself is also beautiful, as shown here, but is by no means exceptional compared to other buildings or Rome.
