Getting TO/AROUND: I'm from Texas, where public transportation is a nightmare and everyone owns a vehicle. I am always amazed at how easy the EU public transportation system is to navigate.

Navigating around London was great. Taking the tube or the buses is the best bet. You can find route maps at the bus stops or at the tube entrances. If you get lost, find a stop that you recognize and start over. Everything is well marked.

Make sure and take The Original London Sightseeing Tour. You will get to see all the best sights. They have hop-on & hop-off buses with several differant routes and 24 hour tickets. The tickets are also good for the River Thames Cruise.

    Trains: Victoria Station

Getting TO/AROUND: When I was a kid I saw a painting of Victoria Station from the 1800's. It looked like a glorious place. Tall glass ceilings, train tracks coming right up to the main entrance. I looked at that painting in amazement wondering where all the people in the funny clothes were going.

It's changed a lot I guess, no more glass cielings. No smoking train engines, but it's still a glorious place. I really enjoy train stations, they always seem like the gateway to someplace else.

We took the Gatewick Express to Victoria Station. It's the best way to get to Central London from the airport. From Victoria Station you can catch a train, a taxi, a bus or the tube to your final destination.

There are some great shops and places to eat inside the station. Check out our favorate store, Lush. It has some great handmade gifts.
