VT members experience about hot springs

I've tried a public bath in Tokyo, it was very good even I was very shy being naked infront of people, but no body really was looking at the others and it was just few moments that you have to walk to the pool, before you set in the hot water, enjoy the relax music and the beautiful pictures for Foji mountain.

There are hot springs everywhere, even in the middle of Tokyo.

I would definitely echo that suggestion to go to Hakone. Its only about 1 1/2 hours away and then a little further on bus to get to the hills of Hakone. It is absolutely beautiful there. You can stay at the Fuji-Hakone Guesthouse and they have two private hot-springs, one indoor, one outdoor.

If you want the whole group hot spring experience, try the Asakusa Jyakotsuyu Onsen in Tokyo. Its definitely a locals hang out and a great way to experience a real Japanese bath house

Okinawa,

So far, I had two visits to Japan, one in Summer 2001. and Autumn 2004
Autumn is bettter for such better for out door activities.

My second visit in Autumn, the best time to see trees leaves changing to wonderful colors like red, orange, yellow. just Okinawa's trees leaves does not change its colors.
This southern Island is virtually a tropical getaway. Although the winter months are somewhat cooler. they are considered the best season to travel.
If you don't eat pork. you may face some diffecult time in Okinawa as they use it almost in all their dishes.
I liked the coral reef coastline, the churaumi aqarium. also some other places.

How nice that you could stay with a local family! Good job with narratives.
