Name of Shop: Jarir Bookstores

Its the largest bookstore chain the country, with more than 21 branch throughout the kingdom and even Kuwait, Qatar, and UAE.
They offer wide verity of PC and laptops, software, newspapers and magazines, DVDs, Books in Arabic and English, mobile phones and greeting cards and so many others.
The best branch for me to go is located in Al Olaya Street.
The shop is open from morning till noon, than again from 4 pm till 10:30 pm. They close at prayer times.

If in you are arriving to Riyadh to stay for some two to three years, and you are not staying in a full furnitured flat, I would suggest IKEA for you for its nice looking, lower than average prices, and fine quality for less than 5 years uses.
The Swedish famous furniture brand operates a giant store in eatern side of Riyadh where shopping is real pleasure.
As its around the world, IKEA offer - a wide range of well designed, functional home furnishing products at low prices.
The smart about it is shopping culture and the wide range of solutions and suggestions and creative idea to furniture you home or even small flat.
The two stories huge building covers thousands of square metres, and it seprated to sections, for kitchens, bed rooms, living rooms, kids rooms, while it has place for self service where you can collect all items you want.
The other nice thing about IKEA is how it give you the opportunity to experience to assemble your item.

2 September 2004 — Three men were killed and 16 injured in a stampede when thousands of people rushed to claim cash vouchers at the opening of an IKEA furniture showroom at its new location near the intersection of Tahlia and Sitteen streets here (Jeddah).

Many men, women and children fainted and some of them were trampled upon as the crowd of shoppers swelled just before the opening. The Red Crescent rushed some of the victims to the nearby King Fahd Hospital.

The hospital received 19 stampede victims, of whom three died.

The prices can be higher than average in some stuff, but the place worth a visit to see and compare the prices from other shops.
The other electronics shop in Riyadh is Electro by King Abdullah Road, and they also have wide range of choices.
