Castle Trail in Scotland

Stalker Castle
Scotland has so many things about it that makes it so unique. It ain't just its 8000 years old history, its magnificent castles, its bagpipes and kilt, the tartan or even HAGGIS!

It's probably the warmth and easy nature of the Scottish people that we met on our trip who made it such a true pleasure for us. :)

My friend, a true castle-holic, had always wanted to visit Scotland. So since 1998, we had spoken of it. But ultimately we didn't just talk of it but actually got our act together and did it.

It's actually a sort of The Castle Route of Scotland for us, and even though we didn't have that many vacation leave, we still manage to squeeze in, in 2 weeks, some great ones - Tantallon, Dunnottar, Kilchurn, Stalker; and some touristy ones - Urquhart, Eilean Donan, etc. But they were all impressive.

And me? I developed a strange obsession for the Highland Cow. Hek hek.

I am still updating my Scotland page, believe it or not.

Picture of Stalker Castle taken while enroute between Fort William, where we based ourselves, and Loch Awe where we went to seek out Kilchurn Castle.

Spean Bridge, Commando Memorial

Thanks to all who helped me identify this monument! :)

Hi Naruto. Brilliant! Brilliant! Love your tips and your photos. I think your unknown monument is at Spean Bridge, just north west of Fort William - it's a war memorial if it is.
