Mozartkugel - Salzburg

Mozartkugel

Mozart Chocolate: Mozartkugel - It's Everywhere! Mozart Chocolate Review

Mozart chocolates or Mozartkugel are everywhere. They are Salzburg's most famous edible souvenir, and are selling in every giftshops, souvenir shops there is. In different packaging, and all shapeand sizes. Despite the ultra-touristy nature and the shameless exploitation of Mozart's good name, it is a good gift for friends and family back home.

Mozartkugel is actually a round chocolate coated praline of nougat and marzipan "invented" by Salzburg's master confectioner Paul Fürst in 1890; this sweet temptation is still being produced by Fürst's great-grandson according to the original recipe to this day.

A tip. Get the chocolates from the supermarket. It is alot cheaper. There is a supermarket right on Rudolfskai, the main thoroughfare along the Salzach River.

What to pay: Supermarkets are alot cheaper. These chocolates come in individual or presentation packages, great for gift-giving.

Directions: all within the city center (old town).

Getriedegasse - Salzburg

Getriedegasse

Getriedegasse (street): Famous Shopping Street of Salzburg getriedegasse (street) Review

Nothing I can say about this famous street in Salzburg's Alstadt that hasn't already been said by countless others. It is a really pretty street, with plenty of shops, eatries, boutiques, and cafes. It is alot of fun to just window-shop and admire not only the goods on display, but the beautiful iron-wrought signs that hang along both side of the narrow street.

What to buy: Branded goods at Louis Vuitton
High street fashion at H&M
Souvenirs ala Mozartkugeln
Crystal at Swarvorski
Seafood at Nordsee

...many more....

Directions: Old Town or Alstadt
