SALZBURG - What a lovely city. It was my first stop in Austria and I enjoyed myself immensely. The weather was great for just walking around, poking around the shops and sightseeing.

I like Salzburg for its compact size. It isn't too big and sprawling, yet managed to contain so much historically significant monuments and sights within it. It is postcard pretty, but also quite real.

Even though some may say Salzburg is touristy with all the constant references to Mozart and the Sound of Music, it really doesn't take away from the beauty that is this city.

As I put this page together, I realize that I look forward to the next time I visit again.

Very informative tips thank you. I especially liked your piece on Festung Hohensalzburg - but then I'm a sucker for castles. Oh yes and your motto so very true.
