Mad Malia !

Endless Activities

Crete relies on the divesity of activities which it offers its holiday makers. One of the many and different ways you can see its beauty and mysteries is hiring a Mountain Bike, this gives you the chance to ride around the Islands ravines and discover its hidden beaches, monasteries and castles, which are history to Cretes land. Lined in the back view are Cypresses and Oaks, Cedars and Pines revealing the many faces of Crete.
A network of Seven mountain retreats provided for those who want to uncover Crete on another route.
Settlers Perhaps !

Cretes History

Six thousand yrs B.C. the very first settlers arrived crossing the stormy wayers of the Aegean sea and declared their settlement on the low hills of Knossos. They were farmers and Shepherds. Caves were used as seasonal homing and eventually the population had grown and new technology was needed. As the Island grew in wealth around 3.000 B.C. the very first palaces started to appear, among them were the palaces of Knossos and Phaistos, these were fantastic architecture, then in 1.700 B.C. Crete suffered a major earthquake which damaged the palaces and the settlements on the Island.
A visit to these palaces as well as Iraklion Museum will allow any visitor to enjoy the nature and Art of Minoan civilization
One other spectacular Island to visit on a day trip is the Island of Spinalonga, sent here were the people who suffered with the diease Leprosy, nobody understood the illness and banished the people with it to a miserable life on the island until they died, Their families did send food over but some were forgotten. For more on this visit my "Places of Interest"
Scattered everywhere are these lushious green palm trees.
This one however was a little to close for comfort as it was literally coming over our balcony and we had the company of the birds during the daytime !!
