It is an absolute MUST to take a gondola ride whilst in Venice, you'll only regret it if you don't. I did'nt want to pay alot as I was quite happy to just take the basic ride, but you can opt for a more expensive one which will be a longer ride. ( There is half hr, 45mins or 1hr ) Ours cost 60 Euros and lasted half an hr, we went from St. Marc's Sq and around the back streets, and round again. It feels quite bizarre when you are coming up to a bridge and people are taking pictures of you, makes you feel kinda famous for a few seconds !

My other half wanted to do this although I did not relish the thought of cleaning pidgeon poo off his or my coat, but suprisingly they never did. You buy pigeon food for 10euros ( i think it was ) and next thing you are surrounded by millions of the things, its like a scene from Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds !
Great fun, and and quite amazing to watch

Excellent view of the Grand Canal and the architecture along each side. These photo's were taken as we walked towards the bus stations and I was amazed at yet again the magnificant colours that the sun threw out.

Caught this guy making his living on this boat, and the fruit&veg looked absolutely yummy ! No artificial colourings here ! Not sure how long he'd been there, all day perhaps, but he was still selling well after 5:30pm

The most famous bridge in Venice, and i never expected it to have shops on it either ! A very busy bridge with lots of people on, most having their pictures taken or taking pictures. A must visit whilst in Venice.
