Well personally I have never accommodated in this hotel, not for any reason except that I already bought an apartment in Cairo when this hotel was built, but if I had the chance to stay here I will! It is quiet elegant oasis in the middle of the noisy metropolis - dedicated to the wealthy travelers ;-)
Unique Qualities: A gracious sanctuary on the west bank of the Nile, with impressive views of the Great Pyramids, the Hotel is at the centre of the prestigious new First Residence apartments and shops. On top of everything,it has club 35 (one of Cairo's most elite lounges).

Originally built in 1869 as a palace for the French Empress Eugenie, this gorgeous hotel in a tranquil setting on an island in the Nile remains fit for royalty, its rooms are fully equipped. Two modern towers encapsulate a lush garden with pool and ornate golden palace facade—a truly magical place at sunset.
Unique Qualities: Many tourism professionals consider the Marriott one of the finest examples of western style hotels in Egypt. So many of these show little in the way of Egyptian architecture, but the Marriott stands out among chain hotels as a splendid example. It makes one feel that they are indeed, in Egypt. We stayed there back in 1996,I was pleased with everything,it's a child friendly hotel (as most places in Egypt),they even have a baby sitter service incase you wanted to go out by night.

I took my kids for couple of days to escape cairo`s busy life to this hotel. it`s located out of town,a bit far if you are willing to do sigh seeing, but great choice if you saw everything in cairo and want to relax a bit. The rate was a lot better than most five star hotels in cairo,we payed 90 USD$ per night for a double bedroom.
Unique Qualities: There are 3 large swimming pools, one with artificial waves (has also sandy beach)and one with slides and water fountains...my kids just loved it...i had to drag them out of the pool by sun set. sea food buffet opens from 7 til 11....great food I must add.

hindu1936 Sat May 30, 2009 00:26 UTC Nice pages with some realistic advice. thank you | matchbox20 Sun Jan 25, 2009 14:23 UTC Do not ever go to Cairo jazz club. Dirty place, underage drinking, drugs and no safe exit in case of fire, bad speakers and noisy music, full of smoke anf weird smell! worst experience ever | 2BusyMom Sat Jan 24, 2009 19:26 UTC I agree. Also remember to make sure you see the seal broken when getting bottled water while out. | CMKEATING Wed Jan 7, 2009 13:26 UTC I enjoyed you comments and your pictures. We are excited about visiting Cairo soon. Why do you not recommend the Dolphin Boat now? What river cruise do you recommend? We will be staying at The Marriott hotel in Cairo. |
