San Francisco Transportation

By Air: From Brussels to SF
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • 'Mode': TO
    Category: Airplane
    Getting TO/AROUND: Unfortunately, there is no direct flight Brussels - SF.

    Some of the possibilities are :
    * Brussels-Washington-SF
    * Brussels-London-SF
    I did :
    Brussel-Paris by train (TGV/Thalys: 1h)
    Paris-SF

    It should have been a good idea, you avoid all the security check at a 3d airport...

    ... well not that sure : Once we finally were in the plane, we had to wait 3h untill the crew finally told us the airport was closed due to frost and snow!!
    I was flying with United Airline, not that sure this is normal behaviour in such a case but their reaction was simply: "try to find a hotel yourself, we'll take offf tomorrow at 8am"...

    Shuttles: From the airport to your hotel

    Getting TO/AROUND: No need to worry about this. Most of the hotels propose a shuttle service for 10-15$: much less expensive than a taxi and much more confortable than a bus...

    Walking: Walking around...

    Getting TO/AROUND: Do you need a car to visit San Francisco? My answer is definitely not!!
    I had a great time walking in the city. I have discovered plenty of nice areas I would have missed otherwise.
    The center is not that big and it is possible to walk from Chinatown to the Golden Gate Park or Presidio Park (I've done it ;-)....
    Once you can't walk anymore, simply take a bus: cheap (1$) and easy! You simply need a map of the different lines!

     Superb page on San Francisco. You really saw a lot of what the city has to offer. I agree with you on Pier 39 but I like the Fountain Vaillancourt and I love the MOMA building. Jeannette
