Part of a trip in Hungary, I have spent a few days in Budapest this summer,...
What can I say? It is a really great city ;-) To keep it simple (but not very original) this is in fact an association of two different cities, Buda and Pest. ...and indeed I forgot a third one, Obuda!!
The impression I have is that Buda with its Castle district is the touristic place by excellence while Pest with most of the 19th century buildings could be considered as the "city" with the real life...
If you plan to visit the city, don't miss the website from the Tourism Office

I have to agree with your assessment of the Hilton.... they couldn't tear it down fast enough in my opinion! It really is an eyesore in the area they built it!

On one of your pictures you can indeed see the green Liberty Bridge ("Szabadság híd" in Hungarian) as the note under the photo indicates. But the commet is about another bridge called Elizabeth Bridge ("Erzsébet híd"). Elizabeth Bridge is white.
