"I've changed my mind..." Hungary by Djinn76

This was my first visit in one of these eastern Europe countries. I spent (only) one week with two friends over there... How we chose this country? Well, I think we can simply say by chance... I was simply curious to discover one of the future new members of EU...

Stupid prejudices (or eastern propagand?) but after such a long time of communism, I was expecting some kind of very poor and retarded country...

I've been positively amazed, everything there is already up to our 'modern' standards, they can definitely be part of European Union next year !!

Some part of the country are not that enjoyable, we've seen Miskolc or Dunaújváros, the perfect illustration or a old and declining industrial city... However this is largely counterbalanced by the rest...

Hungary has an History, there is a wonderful architecture, if some of the building are still in a pretty bad state, they are working on it (and fast!) the countryside is wonderful, even more surprising (prejudice again!), there is a real gastronomy (wine and food as well)...

The only drawback is the language issue... Hungarian mostly speaks hungarian, Jó reggelt kivànok! The second language is German and if you are lucky you'll find someone able to understand english...
This is not such an issue in hotels, and more or less ok in the touristic areas! But if you wish to go off the beaten paths, you'll definitely have to learn talking with your hands...
Again, it will probably change within a couple of year...
