Why does that little boy hold that woman's leg ??

Why does that little boy hold that woman's leg ?? - Bamberg

Close to the cathedral, there is an impressive old stone house. On the facade, we can see that curious low-relief! Why does that little boy hold the leg of that woman?
Probably a long shot but does anyone have any explanation about it?
Is there a story behind it? Some symbolism? Purely an aesthetic reason?

As in Wuerzburg, I have seen several eggs garlands! Much more elaborated here and somehow related to fountains ?
