| The meeting of Klang river and Gombak river. |
| | History of KL Do you know why she is called Kuala Lumpur?
In the early days, KL is nothing but a bushes and a tin mine and lay there a stream of muddy river. Once the Chinese community were brought in from the Mainland China by the Raja fo Klang (Raja Mahadi)to work as a tin miners, their Kapitan named Yap AhLoy found a very strategic location to built a platform for their businesses. And so, this Kapitan had chosen the place situated in the middle of these 2 rivers' meeting point. He called it Kuala Lampa (Lampa in his dielect means mudd). And so on, all community from Malays, Indians and Chinese started calling it Kuala Lampa. The Malays sooner change it to Kuala Lumpur(Lumpur means mudd also in their dielect). That was the story how did she get her name. |
| | The Modern KL As you can see, the domed building is the KLCC mosque. Background is the KL Tower and more skycrapers around KL Golden Triangle. |
