Brown Ale - "The bottle of Dog"
People in Newcastle know how to party. It is the party capital of Europe. If you don't believe me ask someone else who's been. The city centre has so many pubs and clubs you'd need to spend weeks here just to see them all. They arn't all brilliant of course, (we're not perfect) but you'll have a damn good time finding out for yourself.

If you like something a little quieter there are local pubs scattered all over the place out of the city centre. Most of these are very welcoming and are the kind of place you can take your kids if you like.

Travel a bit further, Say 10 miles from the city centre and you are in the Northumberland National Park. This is a dedicated area of outstanding beauty and the country pubs you can find are extremely welcoming with fine food and fantastic beer.

Look out for: Newcastle Brown Ale - World famous and made here!
The Castle Keep
There are plenty of thing to do in Newcastle whatever your interests. You will find a whole load of famous and independant shops in the city centre along with Eldon Square shopping centre, a huge covered shopping mall. Just over the river is the Metro Centre, Europes biggest shopping mall which even has an indoor theme park. The city is packed full of museums from Newcastle's Hancock museum which includes many Egyption artefacts and many varied collections, the Laing art gallery, the Centre For Life, an award winning journey around the human body. The Shipley art gallery in Gateshead and the newest edition the Baltic gallery, a centrepiece alongside the River Tyne. You can wonder round the city taking in the beautiful architechture and the medeivel ruins, walk along the River Tyne as far as you like or just enjoy a coffee with a friend
A view from my window - Warkworth Castle
Travel just outside of Newcastle and you will find yourself in beautiful countryside. The coast is just 8 miles away with some of the countries best beaches about 15 miles away. The Roman Wall runs from Newcastle for over 70 miles across the country, there are many roman forts and bath house ruins to see. There are lots of beautiful country parks which are great in the summer and very picturesque in the snow. You can wonder along the north and south Tyne River and the many others in the region and you can visit castles galore. There are more up here than anywhere else in the country.

Pros:"Lots happening all of the time"
Cons:"Only the traffic - avoid driving in the city centre"
In A Nutshell:"Everytime I leave I long to come home"

Now that's a world class Millennium Bridge! (I even have links to it on my London page, hehehe) One day, I will travel across it. Interesting tips on your hometown. Wow! A view of a castle! Awesome! ~Elaine~

I have been to many places in the UK, but unfortunately, I never made it to Newcastle, even though I twice came across it by train. Fabulous little page about your nice hometown. :o)
