"Summer time in Lanaken" a Lanaken Travel Page by jinwenwang

Lanaken (Belgium) is one of the neighbour towns of Maastricht (NL). Only by 20 mins' biking (7 Km), I can across the boarder to Belgium to see another beautiful town. It is my fun pleasure part living in Maastricht, where I can easily go to any small towns and villages in Belgium and Germany I want by my bike.
Lanaken (Province Limburg) has lots of nature scenary as forest, creeks, lakes and huge farmland of fruits and vegetables. I try to learn how to recognize plants to improve my knowledge of agriculture and botany ;-)
Biking in Lanaken is fantastic, especially accompanied by my Belgian friend Ronny Herman Heemskerk, who shows me the beauty of this land.
It was my first time swimming in one of the lakes in Lanaken, namely Sonnevijver (sun lake), on one of the sunny afternoon in July (July12, Saturday). We biked around 2 hours and swam about 2 hours...and of course, drinking and eating for another 1 hour...lol. Swimming in the lake is fantastic, with ducks around! Very natural and lively. I can never imagine swim in the lake at my hometown Shanghai (well I wish I can do it one day) where still quite a lot pollutions.
Back from swimming in the lake, the only thing I decide is that I want to do a lake-swim tour to swim as often as I can...:-)
The next one could be the lake near Eindhoven where my friend Walter lives. (E3 Strand beach, July 14, Monday)
