  • The Monastery at Roncesvalles is a Really Wonderful pace to stay !! Consecrated in 1219, it has 57 beds, Good Hot showers and is situated on the top floor of the Monastery itself !!
The Refugio is somewhat cramped and there isn't a kitchen but the atmosphere of the building more that make up for these small drawbacks, this will probably be one of the first refugios that you will stay in and a Great introduction it will be too !!
A Simple meal is available in a restaurant next to the monastery, it won't be the best meal that you will have during the walk but never-the-less it is filing at a reasonable price

  • This relatively new Refugio was provided on the initiative of the Mayor and he welcomes pilgrims personally and gives you your cello !! Located in the Town Hall it has 34 beds and a reasonable amount of space, there is also a pleasant area at the back of the building to sit out in. At the western end of the village there is an Excellent Restaurant that serves a Wonderful meal at a reasonable price but unfortunately isn't open in the morning for breakfast !!

  • A New purpose built Refugio at the entrance to the town, Spacious with Good Hot showers, Kitchen and plenty of beds. Maybe a little soulless but still bright and cheerful. Lots of choice of places to eat close by in the town but watch out for the early curfew !!!

  • Probably the Worst Refugio we stayed in during the entire walk, run by unfriendly staff, cramped with a limited number of showers and a ridiculously early curfew that doesn't allow you sufficient time to eat your evening meal, It's difficult to find something good to say about this place especially when its reason for being was to look after pilgrims !! However it has to be said that it is a Very Pretty Town

  • This was the second Monastery that I was lucky enough to stay at, The Monastery of Santa Maria, right in the Centre of the pretty little town of Najera, Lots of Space, Great Hot Showers and a Smashing Restaurant just around the corner serving wonderful food at reasonable prices.

  • More than Just a Refugio, More of an Experience !! This was Definitely one of the Best places that we stayed during the first section of the Camino. The Refugio is a converted Church Bell Tower in the Small village of Granon, There isn't a restaurant in the village so the parish provides a simple but nourishing evening meal and a simple breakfast for a donation, There is plenty of space as you sleep on mats on the floor. A Great Welcome and one Not to Miss when walking the Camino
